Jewelry crafted with Tahitian pearls is found in the waters of French Polynesia. They are known for their full-bodied dark colors and solid tinges. They are available in various shapes like round, drop, button and pear. Embellishments made from these sea gems are known for their captivating appeal and grace. One of the favorite adornments made from these orphic gems is the matinee necklace. Tahitian pearls are cultured in the Pinctada Margaritifera, known as black-lipped oyster.

Akoya pearls come in small to medium sizes; from 2mm-10mm, with the biggest ranging between 5mm – 8.5mm. They are known for their perfect round shape which makes them a darling with the artisans. They are used to craft necklaces and bracelets. These sea gems are mostly found in shades of white with overtones of pink, cream and silver.

The wide range of jewelry and designs available with Freshwater pearls is because of its diversity vis-a-vis shape, which includes baroque, coin and round. They come in an array of assorted colors like white, cream, gold and hues of pink, peach, and lavender. These orphic gems adorned jewelry are a fantastic gift for bridal parties in the form of necklace and bracelets. Because of their large size some as big as 20mm in diameter and various shapes they are also suitable for earrings.

South Sea pearls have thick nacre which gives them a smooth, satiny glow. Predominant among them are the white and golden colored sea gems. Popularly crafted jewelry from these orphic gems are the necklaces and single pearl pendants.

They are larger than other orphic gems and, are produced from the Pinctada Maxima oysters of either the gold-lipped or silver-lipped type. The white variety is cultured in Australia while the golden hued ones are produced in Indonesia, Philippines and Australia.
