Pearls For Newborns? A Creative Choice

You can never get started wearing pearls too early, and when you want to foster your love for jewelry in a newborn there are so many ways to do it. While there are some places out there that offer newborn-specific jewelry, these choices are often extremely expensive for what you get. This is the downside of such a niche product, but there is a better option. When you employ some creative thinking, you will be able to find something.

Embracing The Layered Necklace

The last thing you want is to buy a piece of beautiful pearl jewelry for a child, only to see it fall out of use as they age. Instead, when you buy a piece of jewelry that they can wear for life, you can really give a gift that they will treasure forever.

The question is: what type of pearl jewelry can you give that they will wear forever?

The answer is a pearl necklace. While a pearl bracelet can be grown out of, the pearl necklace is an incredible choice for a gift. For newborns, you traditionally want to size a necklace between 10 and 11.5 inches, and the length expands as they grow up. A slightly longer matinee-length necklace, at roughly 24 inches, is the perfect option for both children and adults.

When they are younger, the 24 inch length will serve perfectly as a double wrapped and layered pearl necklace, giving them something that they can wear up to the point that they reach adulthood. From there, the matinee length will serve them well at formal ‘little black dress’ events, accentuating the neck and shoulders.

If you are thinking about purchasing pearl jewelry for a newborn or young child, don’t look for something that is their size. Instead, choose a piece of jewelry that they will be able to wear for the rest of their life, and they will cherish it for decades.
