Style, Class and Pearl Necklaces

One of the great things about pearls is that they are so versatile. While the traditional pearl necklace will always convey a particular look, there are so many colors and varieties of pearls available today that it’s incredibly easy to dress up or dress down your look by putting on a different color or style of pearl necklace.

Even still, it can be hard to really figure out what style of pearl necklace is best for you. If you already own a pearl necklace or two, and are really looking for something that can be worn in a variety of ways, then a longer pearl rope may be the right option for you.

For the uninitiated, a pearl rope is classified as any pearl necklace that is longer than 51”, but it’s so much more than that. The really great advantage that a pearl rope has over many other styles is that it can be used to create a variety of necklaces using a simple layered approach.

Double Matinee

If you need a great layered look to wear with friends or at a casual work function, the double matinee is a great choice. Since matinee-length pearl necklaces are 24” in length, a standard 51” pearl rope will allow you to easily create a slightly longer double matinee necklace that will look great. The best part is that this necklace is easy to wear; all that you need to do is make two equal-sized loops with your pearl rope and you’re good to go!

Triple / Quadruple Choker

For this look, you might want to choose a slightly longer pearl rope – 60-64” should work for most people. While the choker is one of the most traditional lengths for pearl necklaces, the triple and quadruple choker styles are a totally new look that makes for a great change of pace if you are used to wearing a simple traditional style on most days.

The best time to wear the layered choker is simple, substitute this look when you would normally wear a single choker necklace.

While these are only two simple layered options, the best part about a pearl rope is that the possibilities are endless. Spend some time mixing and matching different layering options to create one that is right for you!
