What To Bring: Going On A Tropical Cruise With Limited Packing Space

One of the most difficult situations that you will find yourself in (from a jewelry perspective) is when you are going on an extended trip and can only pack a few choice items. If you are on a tropical cruise and every inch of space counts, how do you choose the one or two jewelry items that you can wear with a variety of outfits?

For a more upscale cruise with plenty of on-ship time

While it may be tempting to wear your most exotic, striking pearls on a tropical cruise, that may not always be the best option. If you are spending more of your time on the ship, at nice dinners, cocktail parties, and the like, then white pearls will be your best option. There is a pretty good chance that you will have to dress up regularly, and white pearls will never steer you wrong. Bring an entire set of white pearls (necklace, bracelet, and earrings) with you for a number of options that you can mix and match throughout the entire voyage.

For when you are spending more time off the ship and on a beach

For a more casual cruise atmosphere, and especially one where you are spending most of your time off the ship, you will want to choose a slightly more colorful set of pearls. Tropical colors and anything with a pink hue will do well here, as they are far more casual than white pearls and not as exotic as Tahitian jewelry. You still want to look great, but since you will be spending more time off the boat and in a casual environment, you don’t want to wear anything too formal. Feel free to only bring one or two pieces of pearl jewelry with you; it’s less likely that you will wear more than one item at any time.
